The great March of return in 2018. 223 Palestinian protesters, 46 of which were children, were killed by snipers.
Who permanently resettled them? You mean Zionists pushed them into Gaza and sealed it off with a fence? They keep their refugee status because they want to be in their homeland and hope to one day return. Don’t you see the hypocrisy in what you just said? Until Israel ends it’s dehumanising apartheid and violent occupation there won’t be peace. People do not like to be denied their basic human rights and will always resist. Just like the violent jewish uprisings in the ghettos. It’s human nature. People don’t tend to just “accept the fact” and live under oppression. Everyone deserves freedom and dignity, Palestinians are not an exception.
Read about the March it was not exactly peaceful- and in most cases those killed were trying to breach the border or destroy the border. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018–2019_Gaza_border_protests. Furthmore as we saw this February there is a very good reason to keep people away from the border. Now a little history of the refugees. In 1947 the UN sent a commission to Palestine to try to figure out what should happen now that the British were giving up their mandate. After months of hearings and deliberations that committee reccommended the partition of Palestine into a small Jewish State and little larger Arab one. The Jews accepted the plan the Arabs rejected it, and started attacking the Jewish part of Palestine. A civil War followed until the Arab armies invaded as well. In the year+ of the war aproximately 700,000 Arabs left their homes. 1/3 at the very beginning to aviod the war. 1/3 voluntarily because they were afraid of what the Jews might do(since they knew what they would do if they won) and 1/3 were forcibly removed from stratigic places. At the end of the WWII there were 60 million refugees in the Europe. In addition in 1947 the same year this begain the partion of India created between 10-15 million refugees. All were resettled over the next 5 years. Only the Palestinians were not. Until 1967 Gaza bordered Egypt which administered it. It was not the Israelis that would not allow Gazans to go to Egypt proper, it was Egypt that refused to grant them citizenship. When Israel pulled out of Gaza it was hoped that Gaza might become the new Singapore, but instead Gazans fired rockets and southern Israel. Hamas came to power and refused to accept the conditions of the Quartet that they accept the agreement the PLO came to with Israel, instead they said they would never accept a Jewish state and they would fight it. Thus was born the blockade of Gaza to limit the military equipment that would go. I have no idea where you get some of your ideas, like the IDF is made American Brits and Australians who want to fight. There is a small number of foreign Jews who come to volunteer but they make up way below 1% of the IDF.
This is an almost perfect encapsulation of my views.
Where I think it is wrong is that when the conquest of Hamas is complete may be the moment when “undeserving” though the Palestinians may seem, they and the Sunni Arab world may well be willing to commit to a staged roadmap to reconstruction, physically, politically and emotionally to a disarmed independent state.
And if they are. Israelis should seize that moment no matter how much it sticks, short term in their craw.
Of course that will require not just the final defenestration of Netanyahu, but visionary leadership on a Rabin like level, which can focus laser like on the nation’s long term needs over short term pain.
The current situation is the direct result of decisions made in Amman, Cairo, Damascus, and Riyadh over the course of the past 75 years and it about time the Jordanians, Egyptians, and Saudis (the Syrians and Lebanese are helpless) are held to account for the problems they created.
It is not up to you to decide who deserves freedom. This mentality is racist and entitled. You need to decolonise your mindset, your white supremacy, open your heart and mind and listen to what the Palestinians actually want. Your state is committing genocide in Gaza and yet the Palestinians are the terrorists? You should read Ilam Pappe, Normal Finkelstein and Gabor Mate.
They are against their oppressors, not the Jewish people. This is a hypothetical assumption you’ve made and yet the ICJ found that there is plausible evidence that Israel is committing genocide and you can’t believe it? Have you seen what Gaza looks like? Its inhabitable, the people that have not bombed to pieces or executed are dying of hunger, hypothermia and disease. All the hospitals have been destroyed. Meanwhile Israeli citizens block humanitarian aid from getting in, sit on hills and cheer as Gaza is bombed, share violent videos of themselves murdering Palestinians, or simply go about about their lives pretending a massacre isn’t happening a few kilometres away. It’s disgusting.
There is no excuse for being so ignorant, all the information and images are out there for you to see with your own eyes that there is genocide. These people are being murdered for the simple fact that they are Palestinian, doctors, children, babies, women, the elderly and disabled. 100,000 people are dead or missing under the rubble in 4 months, half of them children. Where is your compassion?
They speak regularly of killing Jews, not oppressors, not Israelis but Jews.
“Plausible” is not a legal standard, it is a meaningless statement.
There is no genocide, there is a war. Israel did not start the war, Hamas did. Hamas spent more than a decade embedding itself within and below the civilian population. It started the war knowing it would use the resulting destruction of the civilian population to generate international pressure to stop Israel from destroying it.
Israel is allowing aid to Gaza, Hamas is stealing much of it.
Hospitals have not been destroyed, not even those used by Hamas.
The people of Gaza protest peacefully and are met with snipers. Most of the people living in Gaza are refugees from the sounding areas that were cleansed during the Nakba. I don’t understand what Israelis expect, you steal their land, imprison them, murder their family members and deprive them of basic human rights and then when resistance groups emerge and violently resist you use this excuse to further cleanse them. As if creating more and more orphans is not going to create more resistance fighters. I don’t agree with violence but what would you do in that situation? If someone murdered your entire family? Because that’s who most of these Al quassam fighters are, orphans from previous “wars”. And to say they are purposefully killing their own people or stealing aid? That’s just illogical. They are giving their lives for their country and people. Unlike IDF soldiers from the UK, USA and Australia who join just so they can have some fun blowing up building and killing the Arabs they fear and despise so much. War is not the answer, I mean israel is just making the same mistakes over and over. There needs to be a permanent ceasefire and diplomatic solution that respects both the Jewish right to stay in the country they were born and the Palestinians right to liberation and freedom in their own country. And yes the world is watching as Israel murders thousands under the banner of the Israeli flag, even your biggest ally the USA is starting to turn against you.
Any population who'd lost a war 75 years ago would have gotten on. They've refused most proposed solutions and UNWRA and surrounding arab countries kept them as refugees, holding their narrative of regaining their land which was lost.
It's time to stop the hate narratives, Israel became a home to many diaspora jews, who by the way often were deported to Israel by the arab countries they'd been living in for generations.
The only way to a 2 state solution is changing the deep rooted hate mentality that's been indoctrinated by their leaders. PLO, HAMAS, whatever.
THEY managed to create division against Israël while THEY STARTED THE WAR WITH A MASSACRE.
HOW WOULD YOU HAVE REACTED IF THE INDIGENOUS TRIBES YOU'VE KILLED AND WHO'D LOST THE WAR, IN THE USA, IF THEY WOULD HAVE HAD THE MEANS TO CONTINUE TO FIGHT YOU WITH TERROR AND ROCKETS ?
STOP THIS DIVISION AND TRY TO SEE WHAT IS HAPPENING.
WAR IS BAD. JIHAD IS BAD. ISRAËL IS FIGHTING FOR ALL OF US.
When have peaceful protestors in Gaza been met with Israeli sniper fire? Neither that nor anything else you are claiming has any basis in fact.
There are no actual refugees of the ‘48 war left. Refugees cease to be refugees when they are permanently resettled. No other displaced population has ever claimed to be refugees for generations or until returned to their previous homes.
Every war waged on Israel since its inception has been initiated by Arabs and then lost. There are consequences for losing wars and until the Palestinians accept that fact there can be no peace.
Who never stopped terrorist attacks and rocket launching on Israel instead of investing the billions of humanitarian aid dollars in establishing a life for people in Gaza and protecting these citizens instead of filling generations minds with hate and glorifying terror acts ? While using them as human shields?
WHY DOES THE WORLD ACCEPT THAT HAMAS DOES NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR PEOPLE IN GAZA? THEIR LEADERS HAVE SAID THEMSELVES THAT THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY IS RESPONSIBLE FOR CITIZENS IN GAZA
THEY'RE TOO BUSY FIGHTING IN STEAD OF RELEASING THE HOSTAGES, AND SURRENDER TO STOP THIS WAR.
Right! I wouldn’t want to live next door to Israel. Constantly bombing and slaughtering those around them and taking their land. Since Israel’s existence they’ve only brought death and destruction to the region.
Great analysis!! How do we convince the world of it?

Have a look at this interview please, with a man who grew up in Gaza in the '80's.

It's heartbreaking and difficult to grasp how 4 generations can be raised without love.
