Saying the Meretz has not given voters a reason to vote for them is absurd. Meretz is the only party with a truly mixed (Jewish and Arab) list. Some parties have a token member of the other group. On the other hand, in its top 10 candidates, Meretz has 6 Jews, 3 Arabs and 1 Druze candidate. For those who believe in equality for all citizens, Meretz appears to be the only choice to create a Knesset that looks like the country.
Another reason is that Meretz is capable of self-correction. When it became clear that party leader Nitzan Horowitz was problematic as a leader, the primary voters in Meretz replaced him with Zehava Galon, and moved him down the Knesset list from first place to seventh place. Which other party does this? Contrast this with Labor, the other party on the left, which has kept Merav Michaeli as party leader. Also, both of these parties are led by women, which is too rare. Ayelet Shaked is another female party leader, but her party is not likely to get enough votes to enter the Knesset.
I have a number of responses. First relating to the party mix, who would know that. If the only time you pay attention is during the elections then what do you know. From previous elections "the only true left", no one under 45 in this country knows what that means, then with Zahava return, I am back Meretz is back, what narcissistic nonsense. Back from what, during her time away the party was for once in the government and actually did things. As to the good of Zahava returning, why? she led Meretz to great victories? It should have been someone new. Finally their campaign should be what Meretz can accomplish. See how much Tamar did in one year in the Environment Office, imagine what we can do in four years, etc. What ever reason you or I might have for voting for Meretz the public is clueless.
