Dear Marc,

"UNRWA publicly reported today that over the weekend, armed militants—specifically Hamas— seized 90 of the 100 aid trucks entering Gaza. This issue has plagued the war effort since the beginning, raising urgent questions about how to address the problem effectively."

This alinea in YOUR report really struck me, because it MAY suggest UN / UNWRA would finally be acknowledging the stealing of humanitarian aid by Hamas ?!?

Note : If I misinterpreted your writing, please tell me.

Personally, I needed to find out for myself.

UN never stopped harassing and blaming Israël. UN and UNWRA got billions of dollars at stake, in Gaza and what they call the Occupied Territory - West Bank under PA ruling (according to region : A, B or C).

This subject is worrysome because of the international pressure it'll put on Israel. Especially after reading about the budget problem and urgent need for Haredi draft.

On mainstream news media like WSJ, NYT, WION, BBC, CNC, NBC, CBC, Reuters, AFP and so on,

UN does IN NO WAY report that armed militants - specifically Hamas - seized 90 of the 100 aid trucks entering Gaza.

They blame Israel, as usual :

"The head of the UN agency for Palestine refugees, UNRWA, confirmed on Monday that a large convoy of humanitarian aid was looted inside Gaza at the weekend, amid a near-total breakdown in law and order and harassment of the agency’s staff by Israeli soldiers."

HAMAS SAYS :

" it has killed 20 armed looters following hijacking of aid trucks entering Gaza

Operation targeted gangs of young men from Bedouin tribes, and is first phase in campaign to stamp out theft of humanitarian aid.

Hamas security forces have killed what they said were 20 armed looters in the first phase of a campaign to stamp out hijacking and theft of humanitarian aid entering Gaza.

Local sources and eyewitnesses told the Chinese news agency Xinhua there were heavy gunfire and explosions during the operation, which lasted for several hours in the border zone east of Rafah. QATAR-BASED HAMAS OFFICIAL BASSEM NAIM said the looters targeted were young men from Bedouin tribes from the area, NBC news reported. The European Hospital in Khan Younis received the bodies of 15 killed in the operation, according to to the French news agency AFP.

GAZA’S HAMAS-RUN INTERIOR MINISTRY said the operation – mounted in co-operation with Bedouin tribal committees – “aims to eradicate the phenomenon of [aid] truck thefts that have significantly impacted the community and caused famine-like conditions in southern Gaza”.

Another article on Canadian CBC :

"Israel accuses Hamas of hijacking aid. The militant group denies that and accuses Israel of trying to foment anarchy in Gaza by targeting police guarding aid convoys, Reuters said."

"The Washington Post reported earlier this week that an internal UN memo obtained by the newspaper suggests the gangs carrying out the raids are "'benefiting from a passive if not active benevolence' or 'protection'" from the IDF.

Local residents have told the paper that the looters are tied to local crime families who are at odds with Hamas and have branched out from smuggling and other criminal activities to ransacking aid deliveries."
