Netanyahu does not have to be removed now. He has to agree to new elections bright after the war. Today nobody knows if his decisions are being made in his interest or that of the country.

In my view this argument is pointless at the moment. This is Netanyahu’s last term, everybody knows that. He is responsible for the devastating lack of security on Israel’s border to Gaza on Oct. 7 and he knows that. Some time ago you wrote that people in Israel live in a bubble because you don’t know what’s happening outside of Israel. Did you know that Benjamin Netanyahu is likened to a Nazi? That he is said to be the only obstacle to peace and therefore needs to go? Please tell me what kind of peace will that be? In my view Netanyahu has only Israel’s interests in mind and therefore stands up even the strongest supporter Israel has: the US. One should never forget that the USA has its own interests - interests that are different from Israel’s. The most important of them is survival as a people

Thank you Marc for this excellent article.

"Nevertheless, if our goal in Gaza was not merely to dismantle Hamas, but also to influence world opinion, and, perhaps, have a few Gazans hate us less, then the act of distributing rice might be as important, if not more so, than eliminating another Hamas terrorist."

How could Israël and the world have underestimated Hamas strategy : hate indoctrination on children glorifying terrorist acts and becoming martyrs & building of a huge tunnel network.

It is always enlightening to read your articles.

What I still don’t understand is, why Netanyahu needs to be replaced right now, in the middle of war. Wouldn’t an election campaign be needed for new elections to be held, for which there simply is not enough time right now? Why do you propose weakening of the current government? What other candidates does Israel have?

Thank you for these updates, Marc. I find them educational, especially that bit you added about history. I really appreciate it.

Can you do something about Israelis moving to other countries like Portugal? After October 7th, my first thought was that Israelis are going to want to move away to 'safer' countries which plays right into the desires of Hamas because they do not want Jews in Israel.

If USA are so concerned about the delivery of aid to the Palestinians then I suggest they send their troops to deliver the aid and free Israel to get on with the war, but of course they won’t do that because they only care from a distance!
